We are a faith based non-profit that serves at the intersection of compassion and creativity. Our compassion is rooted in the belief that every person is worthy of dignity. This belief is practiced through our Dignity Services Program. Each week we open our doors to friends in our community who need a safe place to find respite from isolation and houselessness. We provide a day center where they can get some snacks, get a cup of coffee, charge their phones, hop on the internet and just relax. In addition to the daycenter we provide free showers and laundry three days a week for our friends. Anyone can literally come in with the clothes on their back and leave at the end of the day with a hot shower and clean clothes.

Our creative side is facilitated through our fully outfitted woodshop. It is here where we take on commission projects, create and sell products as well as provide furniture repair services. We use the proceeds from these projects to help fund our Dignity Services. You will find our work in churches, homes and businesses throughout the Portland/Vancouver metro area. A big dream of ours is to leverage our woodshop to help provide meaningful job skills training in woodworking for those coming from marginalized spaces.

We have an on-site day center that's available to the community. Guests can participate in daily activities, grab a warm drink or a light snack, charge devices, use our wifi, and relax in a nice dry space.

Friday 9 am to 1pm.

Friends of the Carpenter has two on-site showers. Showers are limited to 20 minutes each, and we have on-site hygiene products, washcloths, and towels. The last call for showers is at 1:30 pm.

Shower Schedule
Tuesday: 10 am to 2 pm
Wednesday: 10 am to 2 pm
Thursday: 10 am to 2 pm.

Friends of the Carpenter has four on-site washers and dryers. Laundry loads are limited to (1) per person per day and supply the supplies necessary for laundry. The last call for laundry is at 12:30 pm.
